The GSL Global Goals Competition challenges you to
THINK GLOBAL and START a LOCAL project that contributes
towards addressing the needs identified by the United
Nations’ Global Goals for Sustainable Development
We, the Green Ninjas of Bunts Sangha's S.M. Shetty International school, have taken up the challenge to help achieve the United Nations' Global Goals. We are working towards Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
We are trying to tackle issues such as depleting resources, increasing waste and the sorry state our environment has landed up in. We are trying to reduce the impact by implementing waste reduction at school level with the help of activities like vermiculture, Roti Bank, making dye from flower waste; then at a community level by undertaking collection and recycling of waste and creating awareness through campaigning about conserving resources and reducing wastage.

Being a part of the GSL project has given us the opportunity to think 'out of the box', voice out our opinions and display our creativity. We gained knowledge on the realistic state of India when it comes to food, the circumstances under which underprivileged children lead their lives and the social needs. We learned the importance of conserving our surroundings and working towards waste management. We understood the significance of REUSE, RECYCLE and REDUCE. Teaching and spreading awareness did not just let us share our knowledge but also gave us the opportunity to interact with others and understand different point of views. Most of all we learned about working as a team and the art of giving. We were blessed to be the reasons behind so many beaming smiles!
